Are you just a little feral?

By the end of this I will be completely feral
By the end of this I will be completely feral

The best word I’ve found to describe myself is potentially feral.

I don’t mean feral as extreme, rebellious, or anti-anything. I mean having once been domesticated into a version of reality that didn’t work for me—and then, little by little, finding another way.

A way that feels more connected to the Earth. More connected to myself. A way of living and being that continues to evolve and, increasingly, looks quite different from what many people consider normal day-to-day life.

For me, feral isn’t about rejecting the world. It’s about no longer trying to fit myself into a version of it that was never really mine.

And your version of feral may look nothing like mine.

Because perhaps being feral is simply finding your own way in the wilds of this Earth—whether your wild is a city street, a suburban backyard, a farm, or a mountaintop.

Maybe feral is about becoming uniquely adapted to the environment you inhabit while remaining willing to discover what actually works for you.

Not returning to some romantic idea of “the wild.”

Not escaping civilization.

But becoming less domesticated by all the ideas about who you’re supposed to be, how you’re supposed to live, and what a successful life is supposed to look like.

So perhaps the question isn’t whether you’re wild or domesticated.

How feral are you willing to become?
