How do I trust myself?

Self-trust can feel like the most fragile thing in the world.
It’s not usually lost all at once—it erodes slowly.A correction here. A judgment there. A moment when you knew something… and chose to ignore it.
Maybe it started in childhood, when you were told you were wrong about what you felt.Maybe it deepened through comparison—watching others seem more certain, more confident, more right. Or maybe it shows up now as second-guessing every choice, asking, “But what if I’m wrong?”
So you wonder:How do I trust myself again?
The Lie About Trust
Most of us were taught that trust comes from proof.
You trust yourself after you’ve made enough good decisions.
You trust yourself once you’ve eliminated mistakes.
You trust yourself when you can guarantee the outcome.
But that version of trust is conditional—and fragile by design.
Because if trust is built on being right, then every “wrong” choice becomes evidence against you.
And suddenly, you’re back at the beginning… doubting yourself again.
What If Trust Isn’t Built—But Remembered?
What if self-trust isn’t something you have to construct?
What if it’s something that’s already there… underneath all the noise?
From an Access Consciousness perspective, trust doesn’t come from certainty—it comes from awareness.
Your body knows.
Your awareness perceives.
There is a constant stream of information available to you—subtle, quiet, often overlooked.
The problem isn’t that you can’t trust yourself.
The problem is that you’ve been trained not to listen.
The Cost of Overriding Yourself
Think about the moments you didn’t trust yourself.
The relationship you knew wasn’t right… but stayed anyway. The opportunity that felt expansive… but you talked yourself out of it.The quiet knowing that got drowned out by logic, fear, or someone else’s opinion.
Every time you override your awareness, you send yourself a message:
“I don’t trust you.”
And over time, that message sticks.
Not because your awareness went away—but because you stopped choosing it.
Rebuilding Self-Trust (Without Forcing It)
Self-trust doesn’t come back through effort. It comes back through allowing.
Here are a few simple Access tools that begin restoring that connection:
Light vs. Heavy: Your Internal Compass
Your awareness often speaks in energy before it speaks in words.
Ask yourself:
Does this feel light? Expansive? Spacious?
Or does it feel heavy? Contracted? Tight?
Light doesn’t mean “easy,” and heavy doesn’t always mean “wrong”—but these sensations give you information.
The more you notice them, the more you start to recognize your own energetic language.
Truth Isn’t Something You Prove
We’re taught that truth must be logical, defensible, and agreed upon.
But what if truth is simply what feels expansive for you?
What if you didn’t need evidence to know something is true?
Giving yourself permission to follow what feels true—even when you can’t explain it—begins to rebuild trust in a profound way.
Follow Energy, Not Rules
Rules are fixed.Awareness is fluid.
When you live by rules, you’re constantly trying to get it “right.”When you follow energy, you’re choosing what’s alive, present, and true now.
Sometimes that won’t make sense.Sometimes it won’t match what you’ve been told you should do.
But it will create a different kind of confidence—one that doesn’t rely on approval.
You Don’t Have to Earn Your Trust
This might be the biggest shift of all:
You don’t need to earn self-trust.
You don’t have to prove you’re worthy of it.
You don’t have to get everything right first.
Self-trust grows the moment you stop overriding yourself.
It grows when you pause and ask, “What do I know here?”It grows when you choose something because it feels true—even if it’s unfamiliar. It grows every time you listen… and follow through.
A Different Question
Instead of asking:
“How do I trust myself?”
Try asking:
“Where am I not trusting myself that I could start?”
Not perfectly.
Not all at once.
Just one choice.
Because self-trust isn’t a destination you arrive at—it’s a relationship you nurture.
And the more you honor your awareness, the more that relationship naturally deepens.
If you’ve been waiting to feel completely certain before you trust yourself…What if certainty isn’t required?
What if you are already enough to trust?
